Although Germany never completed their potentially formidable carrier "Graf Zeppelin" during WWII, they did manufacture 70 fighters intended for operations from the vessel. Lacking a carrier from which to operate, these fighters were assigned to various fighter units of the Luftwaffe, often operating from small islands resembling a human-made carrier, at least to the pilots, in terms of size and general environment.
This fascinating history, for a long time ignored or overlooked, has been told in exquisite detail by Francis Marshall in his two excellent books on the subject (Marshall 1994, 2002). Truth be told, all that is likely to surface on the history of the Bf 109T, is presented in those books.
